Work hard, play hard! Apres l'effort...

It has been a long time since our last post, and this time we don't even have a good excuse for it! We had a few very busy weeks with two charters for Christmas and New Year's Eve. Both of them went as well as we could have wished for, with great guests and good weather in the BVIs. We had only one day to turn the boat around between the two trips so we ended up pretty exhausted, but since then we have had plenty of time to relax.

Plus d'un mois depuis mon dernier article, et cette fois je n'ai meme pas de bonne excuse pour le retard ! Nous avons ete tres occupes pendant quelques semaines avec deux charters dans les Iles Vierges pour Noel et le Nouvel An, qui se sont tres bien passes. Avec seulement une journee entre les deux charters nous etions assez fatigues debut janvier, mais depuis nous avons eu largement le temps de nous reposer.

After the end of the charters the plan was to sail to St Martin to get some work done on the boat and meet some friends, but the weather refused to cooperate and we had to stay for another week in the BVIs, which we spent between the Bitter End in Virgin Gorda and Caneel Bay in St John with our friends Nils and Meredith. At the end of the week Bill flew to the States to attend his cousin's wedding, while I went to St Martin to visit some friends. We returned to the boat after the weekend and finally sailed to St Martin.

Nous voulions partir pour St Martin des la fin des charters, mais le vent etait contre nous et nous avons du passer une semaine supplementaire dans les Iles Vierges, entre Virgin Gorda et St John. A la fin de la semaine Bill s'est envole pour les Etats-Unis pour assister au mariage de sa cousine, tandis que de mon cote je suis partie pour St Martin pour passer quelques jours avec des amis. A notre retour a bord nous avons finalement pu quitter les Iles Vierges, direction St Martin.

We have now been docked in Fort Louis Marina for two weeks, which has given us a great opportunity to work on several projects - among other things improving the entertainment system, getting a new stove, changing bilge pumps, replacing a cracked piece of the rig... We also gave a try to kitesurfing, with Bill stopping after one lesson and me persevering until I was entirely covered in bruises after five sessions!

Cela fait maintenant 2 semaines que nous sommes a quai a la marina Fort Louis, ce qui nous a donne l'occasion de mener a bien tout un tas de projets a bord - entre autres choses ameliorer le systeme audio/video, remplacer la cuisiniere, changer les pompes de cale, remplacer une piece du greement... Nous nous sommes aussi mis au kitesurf, et si Bill a arrete apres seulement un cours j'ai persevere et me suis retrouvee couverte de bleus apres 5 lecons ! Pour ceux qui ne savent pas ce qu'est le kitesurf, c'est un sport qui consiste a se faire tracter par un cerf volant geant (type aile de parapente) sur une planche...

We will be leaving for Antigua early next week to pick up charter guests on February 9th. Their trip will take us back to St Martin, which we will leave immediately to sail to the BVIs where we will pick up another charter, before returning to Antigua for another trip...

Nous mettrons les voiles pour Antigua en debut de semaine prochaine pour recuperer des clients le 9 fevrier. Leur voyage se terminera a St Martin, d'ou nous repartirons immediatement pour aller recuperer d'autres clients dans les Iles Vierges, avant de retourner a Antigua pour un autre charter...
