So, after many days/weeks/months of hesitation, deliberation, changes of mind, we finally got the answer we had been waiting for all summer: our yard period would take place in the beautiful Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
We had a difficult passage from Sardinia, motoring almost all the way into big seas and strong wind, so we were even happier to see the distinctive waterfront of Palma, dominated by the huge cathedral.
Since arriving last week, we have taken the boat into the yard where she will be hauled out tomorrow for a few weeks. We will move to an apartment for the time the boat is out of the water, and now that we both have bikes to ride around town it almost feels like we have a normal life for a month!
We are lucky to have several good friends here in Palma, who are making sure we don't miss out on any of the cool things the island has to offer. Of course the past week's highlight has been America's Cup races every night in one of the many local yachtie bars. Last weekend we discovered a perfect little beach bar, and went surfing on an artificial wave... More adventures to come!
